Abstract:
Lanthanide is a metal rare-earth element; its trivalent ion (Ln3+) is prone to coordination with nitrogen and oxygen atoms due to their unique electronic layer structure, and exhibits unique fluorescence properties. The coordination of organic ligands forms high-coordination complexes with special topological structures. However, the inherent defects such as difficulty in processing and molding, accompanying side reactions, and refractory degradation limit the practical application of rare-earth coordination compound. Therefore, it is normally composited with polymer base to fabricate hybrid materials. Compared with traditional polymers, cellulose, as a new generation of hybrid matrix base materials, has the advantages of high specific surface area, degradability, renewability, and chemical modifiability, and is gradually used as the carrier for rare-earth hybrid luminescent materials. In this review, the research progress of cellulose/rare earth hybrid materials in bioimaging, medical dressings, photoelectric conversion, fluorescence anti-counterfeiting, and fluorescent probes in recent years was summarized, and its development trend was prospected.
