Abstract: |
Similar to alkaline pulping, absorbent cotton was cooked by alkali in this experiment. This paper introduced the experiment conditions. The effect of different metal ions (K+, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Fe2+) on alkaline degradation of cellulose was studied. The copper ethylenediamine (CED) method was used to measure the viscosity of absorbent cotton pulp, then the degree of polymerization (DP) of the cellulose was derivated. The results indicated that K+ promotes alkaline degradation of cellulose in a certain degree; however, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Fe2+ have the opposite effects on the absorbent cotton fiber. |
