Abstract: |
In this paper, N-succinylated chitosan was synthesized with water-soluble chitosan and succinic anhydride, and its sodium salt was used for cigarette paper surface sizing. The surface strength and the antimicrobial property of the sized cigarette paper were studied. The effects of ratio (mchitosan∶mstarch) was discussed. Preliminary study indicated that the tensile index burst index, tear index and folding endurance of the paper increased by 26.1%, 79.0%, 48.6% and 18.8% respectively when the dosage of N-succinylated chitosan was 0.6%. The efficiency was up to 93.3%~98.1% when chitosan and starch were used in the ratio ranged from 5∶2 to 3∶1. It was one to two times higher than that when starch and gum were used in sizing. |
