| Abstract: |
| In this investigation, the fiber morphologies and tissue proportions of Neosinocalamus affinis culms at the ages of 2~5 years were measured and analyzed. The results showed that the values of bamboo fiber length, width, length/width ratio, cell wall thickness, and cell wall thickness/lumen diameter ratio were 2.4~2.8 mm, 14.5~16.0 μm, 150, 10.4~11.5 μm and 2.3~2.6 respectively. The fiber cell wall thickness and ground tissue proportion showed an increasing trend with the increase of bamboo culms ages. In the radial direction of bamboo culm, the values of fiber length, width, length/width ratio, and lumen diameter in middle layer are longer than that in the epidermis and wax layers, while cell wall is thicker in the epidermis layer samples. The fiber length, width, length/width ratio, lumen diameter and conducting tissue proportion increased, but the fiber lumen diameter, ground tissue proportion decreased from base to top. |
