Abstract: |
The PVA and acetone were chosen as dispersants, styrene (St) and acrylate (BA) were used as the monomers, methyl acrylate glycidyl (GMA) was chosen as the functional monomer, potassium persulfate (K2S2O8) was used as initiator, the soap-free styrene acrylic emulsion was synthesized by using soap-free emulsion polymerization technology. The synthetic soap-free styrene acrylic emulsion had some features: small particle size, even particle size distribution and good dispersability. The paper impregnated with this synthetic emulsion not only had good using efficiency but also had improved strength properties and printability. Using soap-free styrene acrylic emulsion combined with oxidized starch in certain proportion was more efficient than using single oxidized starch in improving paper properties. However, there was no sizing and wet strength effect if the dosage was small, but the physical strength could be improved. |
