Abstract: |
The hemicellulose isolated from waste liquor of reed prehydrolysis was used as raw material to prepare cationic hemicelluloses with different degree of substitution by etherification. Effects of dosages of etherification agent and catalyst NaOH, reaction time and temperature on the degree of substitution were mainly discussed in this paper. The results showed that when the mass ratio of the etherification agent to hemicellulose was 0.8, NaOH to hemicellulose was 0.08, reaction time was 2 h, the temperature was 60℃, the substitution degree of cationic hemicellulose was 0.0217. The IR results of the hemicellulose before and after modification indicated that the structure of modified hemicellulose had cationic groups. It confirmed that the hemicellulose occurred cationization reaction. The strength properties of the handsheet could be improved significantly by adding the modified hemicellulose into the pulp. |
