Sodium sulphate of polyethylene glycol esters maleic acid(MP) was prepared from materials of maleic anhydride, polyethylene glycol 1000, chlorosulfonic acid and sodium hydroxide, then styrene-acrylate(SA) surface sizing agent was prepared by using MP, styrene(St), butyl acrylate (BA), acrylamide(AM) and methacryloxyethyltrimethyl ammonium chloride(DMC) as materials, ammonium persulfate as initiator. The structural and performance properties of the SA were characterized by FT-IR and TEM. The experimental results showed that CMC values of MP was approximately 0.24 g/L, γCMC values was about 31.2 mN/m. FT-IR and TEM analysis showed that SA had expected copolymer structure, SA emulsion particle was spherical structure, particle diameter was 145nm or so. Water resistance of the film formed by SA was better than that of SDBS/OP-10. Water absorption rates of the films formed by SDBS/OP-10 and SA were 44.2%and 19.1% respectively after 15 days. The application experiment on offset printing paper with SA and starch mixture showed that water resistance and strength performance of sized paper increased significantly compared with unsized paper, the Cobb value, surface strength and folding strength and breaking length were superior to that of commercial products and imported products. |
