In this paper, CPAM was used together with nanocrystalline cellulose(NCC) to strengthen the papers made of virgin fibers and secondary fibers. Various paper properties with adding CPAM or NCC alone or CPAM/NCC together were studied. The results showed that when the dosages of CPAM and NCC were 0.4% and 0.6% respectively, for the paper made from bleached eucalyptus kraft pulp and using talc as filler, the tensile index, tear index, burst index and folding index were increased by 61.3%, 50.0%, 58.3% and 645% respectively compared with the control samples, also the tensile index, tear index, burst index and folding index were increased compared with the paper adding CPAM alone or NCC alone. When adding NCC/CPAM binary system in the paper made from secondary fibers, under the same dosage(CPAM 0.4%, NCC 0.6%), the tensile index, tear index, burst index and folding index were increased by 51.0%, 16.3%, 53.9% and 167% compared with the sample without the additives. Also, the various paper properties were improved compared with the paper made from secondary fibers adding NCC alone. |
