Abstract: |
The continuous enrichment of dissolved and colloidal substances (DCS) as well as salts caused by white water closed recycling resulted in the destabilization of DCS, which exerted serious negative impact on the paper machine runnability and paper quality. This paper separated and characterized DCS from white water to infer their source, analyzed their basic properties and studied the effect of salts on the stability of DCS. The results showed that the major components of DCS were chemical additives while the extractives were very little. The DCS were dispersed in form of smooth drops with average particle size of 1.656 μm after dialysis. Electrostatic destabilization of DCS by a single salt was strongly infiuenced by valence and concentration of the salt, the conductivity of white water should be controlled under 1887 μS/cm to minimize the destabilization by mixed inorganic electrolytes. |
