Abstract:
Acrylamide, itaconic acid and methacryloyloxyethyl trimethylammonium chloride were used as monomers to prepare Amphoteric polyacrylamide (AmPAM) in this thesis. The strengthening, retention and drainage performances in mixed recycled fibers were tested by altering the adding dosage and pH value. The water retention value and Zeta potential were further tested to explore the strengthening mechanism of the polyampholyte. The results showed that as the adding dosage of AmPAM in recycled fibers increased, the paper strength improved while the drainage capability of the fines decreased.Paper strength was the best when pH value in papermaking system was around 4 and meanwhile Zeta potential reached zero.Combining AmPAM and PAC adding as a synergy system in recycled-paper pulp, the strengthening efficiency was significant. Retention of the fines increased and water retention value (WRV) of refined pulp increased by 31.4%,when the paper containing AmPAM was reused.
