Abstract: |
This article focused on the impact of different binder mixtures of coatings on ink spreading and permeation in inkjet paper. Silicon was used as pigment, and vinyl acetate copolymer(VAE) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) in different ratios were used as binder in this study. The spreading and permeation of the ink and the absorbability of the paper were assessed using high voltage electrostatic transmitter and printability tester. The results showed that the surface performance and printability of the paper were affected by the composition of the binder. With the decrease of VAE and the increase of PVA, the penetration and diffusion of the ink changed as well. When the binder mixture of VAE and PVA was used with proper ratio,a higher solid density of the print and definition could be achieved, which were better than using either one of them alone. |
