Abstract:
The synthesis and modification of melamine formaldehyde resin by adding ammonium persulfate solely or both ammonium persulfate and sodium hydrogen sulfite at the same time were studied in this paper. When n(melamine)∶n(formaldehyde)∶n(methanol)∶n(ammonium persulfate)=100∶330∶450∶1 was applied, wet tensile strength of the paper adding modified melamine formaldehyde resin increased by 14.7% compared to adding unmodified resin. When ammonium persulfate and sodium hydrogen sulfite were used at the same time and n(melamine)∶n(formaldehyde)∶n(methanol)∶n(ammonium persulfate)∶n(sodium hydrogen sulfite)=100∶330∶450∶2∶0.9 was applied, wet tensile strength of the paper adding modified melamine formaldehyde resin increased by 13.6% compared to adding unmodified resin. It was concluded that using ammonium persulfate solely was more effective than using both ammonium persulfate and sodium hydrogen sulfite at the same time.
