Abstract:
      Considering current paper defect detection methods have many problems, for example, anti-noise performance is not good, paper defects edge location becomes inaccurate, operation of algorithm is complicated and so on. A kind of detection algorithm of paper defects based on bit-plane was presented. Firstly, the noise of the images containing paper defects was filtered by adaptive median filter algorithm. Then, the filtered images were decomposed into 8 bit-plane images. After that, the 8 bit-plane images were enhanced with gray code. Finally, the enhanced bit-plane image was edge detected by mathematical morphology operator, thus, the final results of paper defect detection were obtained. The simulation results showed that this method had the advantages of simple calculation, better defects detection ability, better anti-noise performance and positioning accuracy.
