Abstract: |
The effect of pH value on the treatment of pentachlorophenol (PCP) by magnetic activated sludge in the presence of low concentration of dissolved oxygen (DO, 0.6 mg/L) was studied, and the sludge without magnetic was as blank control. The effects of pH value on the removal rate of PCP and CODCr, the microbial activity and flocculation performance of the activated sludge system were studied. The experimental results showed that the treatment effect of micro-aerobic magnetic activated sludge on PCP and CODCr was higher than that of micro-aerobic activated sludge, especially when the pH value was 5.0~9.0. The removal rate of PCP and CODCr reached maximum when the pH value was 7.0. For micro-aerobic magnetic activated sludge and micro-aerobic activated sludge, the removal rates of PCP reached 87.5% and 70.5% and removal rates of CODCr reached 77.0% and 67.0%, respectively.Due to the presence of the micro-magnetic field, the microbial activity and flocculation performance of the activated sludge system were enhanced. When pH value was 7.0, the concentrations of dehydrogenase and extracellular polymeric substance (PN/PS)in the micro-aerobic magnetic activated sludge system were 248.59 mg/g sludge and 1.3, respectively and the values were 173.18 mg/g and 0.76 in the micro-aerobic activated sludge. |
