Abstract:
Fiber morphology of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami of different ages and at different radial positions in the culm was analyzed and compared in this study. The results showed that fiber length and the ratio of fiber length to width were longer and bigger at the middle layer of bamboo culm wall, and were shorten and smaller at the inner layer. Fiber width and the ratio of cell wall thickness to the lumen of fiber were bigger at the outer layer of bamboo culm wall, and were smaller at inner layer. Fiber lumen diameter at inner layer of the bamboo culm wall was almost bigger, and smaller at the middle and inner layers. The majority of fiber length of different age D.oldhami concentrated in 1687~1961 μm which belong to the long fiber species. The majority fiber width of D.oldhami of different ages mostly distributed in 11.9~17.6 μm, the ratio of fiber length to width was 104~147. 76%~86% frequency distribution of different age D.oldhami fiber length was mostly distributed in 1000~2500 μm. The results provided an important basis for oriented cultivation and effective utilization of D.oldhami.
