Abstract:
A novel surface sizing agent PEI-KH560 was prepared through a simple reaction using polyethyleneimine (PEI) and KH560.The physical properties and hydrophobicity of the dried handsheet were determined after impregnating in PEI-KH560.The results showed that when the dosage of PEI-KH560 was 1.35%, the dry tensile index and wet tensile index of handsheet increased by 33.9% and 61.8%, respectively. The surface of the handsheet changed into hydrophobic surface from high hydrophilic surface, and the surface contact angle increased from 53.4° to 69.8°, the Cobb60 value decreased by 24.3%. It is indicated that PEI-KH560 enhanced the bonding strength between fibers, and played a positive role in improving the strength and hydrophobicity of the paper.
