Abstract: |
Bamboo papermaking waste sludge (BPWS)-based activated carbon was prepared using ZnCl2 as activator and its preparation process and physicochemical properties were investigated. The results showed that the optimum conditions of preparation were ZnCl2 concentration of 40%, solid to liquid ratio of 1∶2.5, carbonization temperature of 550℃, and carbonization time of 30 min; the activated carbon obtained under these conditions was of well-developed pore structure, high specific surface area as well as excellent adsorption performance, of which the iodine adsorption value, BET surface area, total pore volume, micropore volume, and average pore diameter were 821 mg/g, 936 m2/g, 0.73 mL/g, 0.41mL/g, and 3.12 nm, respectively. It was found that the removal rates of CODCr and chroma of secondary biochemical effluent were 70.3% and 89.1% respectively after treatment using the BPWS-based activated carbon, when activated carbon dosage was 1.0 g/L, initial pH value was 7.5, treatment temperature was 35℃, and treatment time was 90 min, and the treated effluent met the national discharge standard GB 3544—2008. |
