Abstract:
      The applications in high value-added paper products of bamboo is limited for high-brightness bamboo chemical thermomechanical pulp (CTMP) cannot be obtained from conventional process. In this study, the brightness of the Neosinocalamus Affinis TMP was increased from 71.6% ISO (conventional process) to 74.9% ISO by enhancing pretreatment. Comparing the UV-vis reflectance and Raman spectra of the pulps prepared in the abovementioned two process conditions, it was found that a good deal of the unsaturated conjugated structures of the side chain in benzene rings were removed, but certain new sub-chromogenic groups increased because of the enhancing pretreatment. The structure of the stable chromophores of the Neosinocalamus Affinis TMP was tentatively determined to be certain unsaturated conjugated structures of the benzene ring side chain and furan-type conjugated structure.
