Abstract:
      The one-step p-toluenesulfonic acid (p-TsOH) pulping and the two-step p-TsOH pulping were carried out on rice straw, and the feasibility of p-TsOH pulping was discussed by comparing with alkaline pulping. The results showed that compared with the alkaline rice straw pulp, the yield of p-TsOH rice straw pulp was higher, and the paper bulk and strength better. The two-step p-TsOH pulping, compared with its one-step counterpart, could further improve the delignification rate, lessen the fiber breakage with longer average fiber length. Moreover, the lignin removal ratio of dilute alkali-p-TsOH two-step pulping (N-P45T70t60) was 12.7 percentage points higher than that of one-step p-TsOH pulping (P45T70t60), the tensile and bursting index were 4.52 N·m/g and 0.653 kPa·m2/g higher, respectively; and its bursting index was comparable to that of alkaline rice straw pulp.
