Abstract:
      The production practice in factory shows that the addition of basic magnesium sulfate whisker into the papermaking system as a filler to improve the heat resistance of paper will seriously affect the dyeing effect of direct scarlet 4BS. To solve this problem, we proposed a method by adding polymer additives as efficient retention aid into the papermaking system to improve the dyeing effect of direct scarlet 4BS filled with basic magnesium sulfate whisker. The effects of cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM), amphoteric polyacrylamide (AmPAM), cationic etherified starch, and TEMPO oxidized cellulose nanofiber (CNF) on the dyeing effect of direct scarlet 4BS were evaluated. It was found that the addition of TEMPO oxidized CNF can effectively improve the dyeing effect of direct scarlet 4BS. The results also showed that when the addition of TEMPO oxidized CNF was 2%, the dyeing effect of direct scarlet 4BS could be significantly increased. Furthermore, the addition of TEMPO oxidized CNF could effectively increase the retention rate of basic magnesium sulfate whiskers, thereby improve the heat stability of paper substrate at high temperature.
