Abstract: |
Steam explosion technology was used to pretreat poplar chips to prepare poplar-based porous carbon; the effect of steam explosion on the properties of the as-prepared porous carbon was studied. N2 adsorption-desorption, SEM, and FT-IR were used to characterize the porous carbon. The results showed that the PCSE-N prepared from steam-exploded poplar with adding urea had the highest specific surface area, up to 3002 m2/g, which was higher than that of PCNP-N (2698 m2/g) prepared from poplar without steam explosion. Moreover, PCSE-N was of high mesoporous specific surface area (1976 m2/g). The adsorption properties of the prepared porous carbon were analyzed by using methylene blue as the adsorbent. The adsorption capacity of PCSE-N towards methylene blue was as high as 1726 mg/g, and the adsorption process conformed to the pseudo-second-order kinetic equation and Langmuir model. |
