Abstract:
      At present, the development and utilization of renewable energy is a key direction for achieving energy structure transformation. As a kind of large brown algae in the ocean, Sargassum spp., is considered a potential high-quality raw material for bioenergy production. This paper reviewed the latest research progress of Sargassum spp. in the field of bioenergy, evaluated the potential of Sargassum spp. for the development of bioenergy from the aspects of bioethanol, biomethane, bio-oil, bio-hydrogen, and their comprehensive utilization, discussed the important role of Sargassum spp. bioenergy in alleviating energy shortages and environmental protection, provided theoretical support for the realization of high-value utilization of Sargassum spp. resources.
