Abstract:
Using polyamide epoxy chloropropane resin (PAE) as a multifunctional color-fixing agent, this study systematically investigated the action mechanism of PAE on the rheological properties of nano-SiO₂ based coatings, surface properties of coatings and printed image quality of inkjet paper prepared by coating, revealed the structure-property relationship between PAE mass fraction and coating performance. The results indicated that cationic groups in the PAE molecular chain of nano-SiO2 coating effectively anchored anionic dyes through electrostatic interactions after adding PAE, increasing the color density of prepared inkjet paper printed images by 16% (up to a maximum of 1.289) while significantly enhancing water resistance of coating. At a PAE mass fraction of 10% (relative to the dry mass of SiO₂), the interlayer adhesion strength of prepared inkjet paper reached 0.344 N/m², representing a 64.5% increase compared to the uncoated sample.
