Abstract:
In this study, kraft lignin (KP) was used as raw material and subjected to hierarchical pretreatment with hydrochloric acid, followed by synergistic activation and nitrogen doping modification using magnesium carbonate (MBC) and melamine to produce lignin-based porous carbon. The adsorption performance of lignin-based porous carbon towards the neonicotinoid insecticide imidacloprid (IMI) in an aqueous solution was preliminarily investigated. The results indicated that staged hydrochloric acid pretreatment at pH value of 9 effectively optimized the pore structure and surface chemical activity of the lignin-based porous carbon (KP9@MBC@N). The specific surface area, total pore volume, and average pore diameter of the resulting KP9@MBC@N were 1 693.8 m2/g, 0.56 cm3/g, and 2.52 nm, respectively. Under the conditions of IMI solution initial concentration of 200 mg/L, adsorbent dosage of 10 mg, adsorption temperature of 35 ℃ and adsorption time of 120 min, the maximum adsorption capacity of KP9@MBC@N towards IMI could reach 294.4 mg/g. It was hypothesized that the adsorption mechanism towards IMI mainly involved pore filling and some mild chemical reactions.
