Abstract:
Low-acid spraying combined with low-temperature steam explosion was used to pretreat wheat straw in this study. The effects of pretreatment conditions on components, structure, and enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency of wheat straw were investigated. The results showed that cellulose retention rate reached 91.3% with hemicellulose removal rate of 83.4% and sugar yield in hydrolysate of 80.1% when wheat straw was sprayed with 5% sulfuric acid (solid to liquid ratio 1∶1) at 170 ℃ (0.79 MPa) for 5 min. In addition, the enzymatic hydrolysis rate of glucose was 84.9% after 72 h of enzymatic hydrolysis. This study proposed a low-temperature steam explosion pretreatment method for wheat straw, which achieved high cellulose retention and outstanding enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency.
